Estimate your vessel’s well-to-wake (WtW) GHG intensity, FuelEU compliance balance and potential penalty exposure for any reporting year from 2025 onwards. Built by Varuna Sentinels BV.
Indicative result only. Final balance and penalty depend on FuelEU verifier-approved Well-to-Wake values, monitoring plan, RFNBO multipliers and pooling/banking elections. For binding figures, engage a FuelEU verifier and Varuna Sentinels for compliance support.
The FuelEU Maritime Regulation (EU) 2023/1805 entered into force on 1 January 2025 and introduces a goal-based, well-to-wake (WtW) greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity standard for energy used on board ships of 5,000 GT and above calling at EU/EEA ports. The first compliance balance deadline is 30 April 2026 for the 2025 reporting year.
The standard is set against a 2020 reference value of 91.16 g CO₂eq/MJ, with progressive reductions:
Compliance is measured by computing your fleet’s actual WtW GHG intensity (weighted by energy consumed) and comparing it to the target. A surplus is bankable or poolable; a deficit triggers a penalty of EUR 2,400 per tonne of VLSFO-equivalent, calculated from the magnitude of the deficit divided by the energy density of VLSFO at the target intensity.
